JACKSON SQUARE PONTALBA COMPACT MIRROR

JACKSON SQUARE PONTALBA COMPACT MIRROR

Completed in the 1850s, the Pontalba Buildings were commissioned by Baroness Micaela Almonester de Pontalba, a wealthy and influential Creole businesswoman whose vision helped shape the modern French Quarter. Constructed between 1849 and 1851, the twin red-brick buildings—known as the Upper and Lower Pontalba Buildings—were designed in the elegant Parisian style, reflecting the Baroness’s European influences. Their signature wrought iron balconies, adorned with intricate designs, stretch the length of the façades and have become one of the most recognizable features of New Orleans architecture. They stand as enduring symbols of New Orleans’ blend of French heritage, Creole culture, and timeless elegance.
