PAT O'BRIEN'S COMPACT MIRROR
PAT O'BRIEN'S COMPACT MIRROR
Pat O'Brien's story began in the early 1930s, during the Prohibition era, when Pat O’Brien operated a speakeasy in the city—accessible only with a secret password, “Storm’s Brewin’.” In the 1940s, the bar introduced what would become its most famous creation—the Hurricane cocktail. At the time, whiskey was scarce, but rum was plentiful, so bartenders mixed rum with passion fruit syrup and lemon juice, serving it in a curvy glass shaped like a hurricane lamp.
Pat O’Brien’s also became known for its dueling piano bar, where two pianists perform lively sing-alongs that keep the crowd entertained late into the night. Over the decades, the bar has grown into a symbol of New Orleans hospitality and celebration, blending history, music, and good spirits in true French Quarter style.
